How They Got There
Prior to pharmacy school, growing up as a child, I dreamed of being a teacher. I left this dream behind when I went to college and decided to pursue a healthcare profession. I thought, as a naïve 18-year-old, that a scientific background would challenge me more than an education background but throughout pharmacy school, I quickly discovered the opportunities of teaching within the profession and was determined to connect my two passions.
I chose a residency program in drug information at the University of Kansas Hospital for several reasons. I had several great experiences within the field during school and realized drug information provided a pathway to package information available to help others, both clinicians and patients. I was also highly influenced by the residency and Drug Information Center director, Joyce Generali. She was [is] a nationally known pharmacist and has the passion for drug information that I desired.
After my residency, I knew I wanted to work with students and took a faculty position at the University of Kansas.
